Local Geelong sporting team Lara United Football Club is preparing for another successful season for the men’s, women’s and junior teams.

After claiming some solid wins last year, the club is laying the foundations for continued success in the 2023 season.

Lara United President Paul Grzybek highlighted the State League Women’s team, which is looking to build on their undefeated 2022 season.

“The team finished top of the western conference table and then dominated the eastern conference champion, finishing as State League 2 Victorian champions,” he added.

“Our Women are now promoted to State League 1 for 2023 so we have some very exciting times ahead. We are hoping with the Women’s World Cup coming to Australia in 2023, it will inspire more women and girls to enter into the sport.”

Lara United openly welcomes all skill levels, with teams playing at State, local and junior level. Paul believes the club’s family atmosphere is a key driver behind the continued growth of the club.

“Our registrations have grown significantly over the last year, and we predict this year will be our biggest number of players in our history,” Paul said.

The club is also preparing to form a new “Miniroo committee” for the 2023 season which is an exciting opportunity for dedicated individuals who are committed to nurturing the clubs’ juniors.

“We recently engaged Football Star Academy to help improve skills to both players and coaches,” Paul said.

“Through a variety of innovative soccer programs, our junior teams learnt teamwork, resilience, leadership, and commitment skills.”

Supporting the continued growth of the club is where Bisinella Developments proudly plays an active role, signing on for another three years’ as a major sponsor, continuing a relationship that has been going strong for over 10 years.

Paul said Bisinella’s support means the club can continue to support families and communities who all share the same love for sport and bring the community together.

Bisinella Developments Director Richard Bisinella said the club shares similar family-orientated values to Bisinella.
“We are delighted to support the club and provide valuable sporting opportunities for people in Lara,” Richard said.

Lara United Football Club was founded in 1999 by a dedicated group of parents who wanted their kids to play soccer locally within Lara. Over the years, with the help from dedicated and committed volunteers, the club has grown to what it is today.

With registrations now in full swing and anticipation high, Paul encourages people to register early to ensure they get a spot in the team.
