Bisinella Developments has received planning approval from the City of Greater Geelong for a new residential estate in Corio.
Located at 55 Broderick Road, Corio, Wattle Grove will include 102 lots ranging from 323m2 to 895m2.
The first stage of Wattle Grove will comprise of 20 lots. Land in the first stage is expected to be available for sale from February 2020, with construction due to start in early 2020.
Bisinella Developments has awarded the tender for the five stages of the project to local civil contractors Wellam Constructions.
The new estate, located on 8.9ha of land, will include a 4000m2 park with a playground and bookended by wetlands.
Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said Wattle Grove’s location would provide residents with easy access to the Princes Highway. He expected the estate would be popular with locals and Melbourne residents alike.
“Wattle Grove will provide residents with easy access to Melbourne in one direction as well as the Geelong CBD and the Surf Coast in the other,” he said.
“The new estate is also a short drive from the Corio and Lara Train Stations, which will be convenient for train commuters.”
Wattle Grove neighbours Bisinella’s earlier Rose Park Estate which was constructed from 2003 to 2007 and comprises of 221 lots.
Wattle Grove is located between Corio’s existing residential development and the Geelong Ring Road, west of Beckley Park.
Wattle Grove is adjacent Beckley Park, home of the popular Beckley Park Saturday Community Market, with the Geelong Gate Homemaker Centre retail precinct just across the highway. It’s also an easy stroll to Aldi.
The new estate will also include access to the Ted Wilson trail, a 12km shared user path which follows the alignment of the Geelong Ring Road from Broderick Road in Corio to Church Street in Herne Hill.
Harcourts, North Geelong auctioneer Joe Grgic, who sold the property to Bisinella in April, 2018, said this was a “great time of the year for this release as many people will be making decisions about life over the New Year”.
“Bisinella has shown time and again they are about building communities and after viewing the plans this estate will be no exception,” he said.
The great thing about Wattle Grove is the varied sized allotments on offer, so this will suit first home buyers, growing families and empty nesters
Mr Grgic said the location, with the easy access to Melbourne as well as Avalon Airport, made it very appealing.
“It also offers convenience to local shopping, quality schools and transport, plus getting into the Geelong city centre and the amazing waterfront couldn’t be any simpler.”
