Giving Tree Appeal donation to help families and children this Christmas

Published: 08/12/2023

Bisinella Developments is proud to support the annual Geelong Giving Tree Appeal to help local disadvantaged families and children heading into the festive season.

As rising cost-of-living puts more pressure on households, funds raised by the Giving Tree Appeal will provide some financial relief to those facing challenging circumstances this Christmas.

Appeal organiser Fiona Cutter, from local non-for-profit Meli, said the money raised during the four-week fundraiser is converted to gift cards which are given to families during December.

“Last year, we raised more than $100,000 which helped us distribute more than 3,225 gift cards throughout our community,” Fiona said.

“This year we know the need for financial support will be higher than normal due to the ongoing escalating cost-of-living crisis.

“We are encouraging anyone who can to please dig deep and donate to the 2023 Geelong Giving Tree Appeal – your donation can make a big difference to a family in need this Christmas.”

The Geelong Giving Tree Appeal first began in 2001 and has since grown as community agencies in the region collaborated to run the fundraiser.

Fiona said donations from companies like Bisinella help the Giving Tree Appeal gain prominence in the community and encourages locals to pitch in their own support.

“We would like to thank Bisinella for coming on as a silver partner again this year, which will see every dollar donated matched by Bisinella’s generous donation of $5,000,” Fiona said.

“We want everyone in our community to have a joyful Christmas, and the proceeds from this appeal will make sure our most vulnerable residents are supported during the festive period.”

Bisinella Developments CEO Richard Bisinella said the company has been donating to the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal since it became a fundraising event in 2020.

“For the past three years, Bisinella has thrown its support behind this incredible cause, and 2023 is no different,” Mr Bisinella said.

“As we head towards the Christmas period, many households start to feel the pressure of rising costs associated with what is meant to be a joyful time of the year.

“I would like to thank all of the service providers and volunteers involved with the Giving Tree Appeal for the life-changing work they do in supporting our most vulnerable community members.

“I would encourage everyone to donate to this incredible cause to help spread the Christmas joy for families and children doing it tough.”

The Geelong Giving Tree Appeal finishes on December 9, marked by a family fun day where every dollar donated will be matched using Bisinella’s contribution.
