The Lara Wildcats Baseball Club has entered a women’s team in the inaugural Geelong Baseball Association’s Women’s Baseball League.
The news comes as Bisinella Developments re-signs as a major sponsor of the Wildcats for the season.
Lara Wildcats Baseball Club President Jarrod Fraim said it was an exciting time for the club with the introduction of the women’s team.
Mr Fraim said Bisinella, which has sponsored the club since 2017, had been a huge factor in the club’s growth.
“We have used the money in the past for a variety of items including contributing to apparel and various equipment required throughout the club,” he said.
“We are still aiming to purchase a new pitching machine which will help with training and give everyone more chance to hone in their skill.”
“Bisinella’s sponsorship is extremely important to our club - the money is our lifeline each year to enable better opportunities for all our players,” he explained.
“With Bisinella’s continued support we will not only be able to grow the women’s team but also support the continued development of our junior program.”
Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said the Lara Wildcats provided a valuable contribution to the region, facilitating sporting opportunities for our youth.
“We are very pleased to be able to support the club and all their players in their endeavours this season,” he said.
The Lara Wildcats is part of the Lara Sporting Club and have more than 70 senior and junior baseballers.
A powerhouse of the Geelong Baseball Association, the Wildcats have played in 16 A grade finals out of the past 20 years, with 14 players going on to play professional baseball or attain college scholarships in America.
The Geelong Baseball Association runs from April until September 2022.
