In a powerful display of community spirit and corporate social responsibility, business and community leaders across the Geelong region have united in support of Anam Cara Geelong, the region’s dedicated palliative care hospital.

More than 50 companies, including Bisinella Developments, have signed an open letter to Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan urging her to allocate $3.5 million from the 2025 State Budget to support the essential services Anam Cara Geelong provides.

Since opening in 2023 on the grounds of Deakin University in Waurn Ponds, Anam Cara Geelong has delivered specialist palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of individuals and families across the region.

As a purpose-built, community-driven facility, the hospital fills a critical gap in the local healthcare system, by offering home-like, person-centred care in a peaceful and respectful environment.

The development of Anam Cara Geelong was made possible through the generosity of Geelong’s stakeholders, including the corporate community - a testament to the region’s culture of giving back.

The requested $3.5 million in government funding will enable Anam Cara Geelong to expand public access to palliative care beds and day programs, easing pressure on local hospitals by freeing up beds, reducing admissions and elective surgery wait times, and alleviating emergency department congestion.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of so many businesses across Geelong, whose generosity so far has helped us deliver exceptional care to people with life-limiting illnesses,” Anam Cara Geelong Chair Diana Taylor AM said.

“However, as demand for palliative services continues to grow, Government support is vital to ensure we can continue providing this level of care to local residents.”

Bisinella Developments is proud to stand alongside the many local businesses that have helped bring Anam Cara Geelong to life.

“Supporting Anam Cara Geelong aligns closely with Bisinella’s values of family, community and care,” Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said.

“Anam Cara Geelong is more than just a building – it’s a place of dignity, comfort and support for those going through the most vulnerable time in their lives.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of a community that recognises this need and has come together to make a difference.”

Richard said at time when healthcare systems are under increasing strain, Anam Cara Geelong stands as a beacon of what can be achieved when compassion, care and community come together.

“Together, we have demonstrated what regional communities can do when working together,” he said.
