Bisinella gives Hope to local charity, ahead of annual sports breakfast

Local Geelong charity Hope Bereavement Care (Hope) will host their popular sports breakfast next month – the first time their annual event has been held since 2019.

Bisinella Developments has once again proudly donated to the local not-for-profit charity, supporting their vital services for the Geelong community.

Hope Bereavement Care is a not-for-profit organisation based in Geelong offering free information, support and counselling when grieving the death of a child, the sudden and unexpected death of an adult and those experiencing loss after suicide.

Hope’s 2022 Charity Sports Breakfast is planned for Tuesday, April 5, at the GMHBA Stadium.

The event will be hosted by local identity Roxie Bennett with special guests, Geelong Football Club’s CEO Steve Hocking and AFLW player Maddy McMahon.

Hope Executive Officer Salli Hickford said over the last financial year, Hope provided 1868 hours of counselling, delivered 42 groups and joined with over 500 bereaved people to remember their loved ones at their events.

As Ms Hickford explained, Hope doesn’t receive any government funding and relies heavily on the generosity and support of local businesses and the Geelong community.

The local charity is hoping to raise $30,000 from the sports breakfast.

“This event is one of our major fundraisers and we hope our support continues as we endeavour to ensure that no one is alone in their grief,” Ms Hickford said.

Ms Hickford said support for Hope was vital so the charity could continue to offer free information, support and counselling to bereaved people in the local community, who are grieving the death of a child, the sudden and unexpected death of an adult and those experiencing loss after suicide.

The support Hope provides reduces the risk of poor mental health outcomes, suicidal thoughts and death for people grieving. It guards against isolation by linking bereaved people together and building the capacity of both the community and professionals to support them.

Bisinella Director, Richard Bisinella said he was pleased to support the charity and the important services it is offering the people in the Geelong region.
