Providing Hope to our community

For more than 30 years Hope Bereavement Care has provided critical support for members of the Geelong community when they need it most.

The not-for-profit organisation is the only specific bereavement organisation in the wider Geelong region, offering support throughout Victoria’s Barwon and South West Regions for people dealing with the sudden or unexpected loss of a loved one.

Bisinella Developments’ Director Richard Bisinella attended Hope’s recent Sports Breakfast fundraiser and provided a financial contribution to support Hope’s ongoing work in the community.

“We are proud to support an organisation such as Hope that is carrying out excellent work in the local community and helping ease the heavy burden experienced by people grieving the loss of a loved one,” Richard said.

“Asking friends and family for help can be difficult for many, Hope provides another outlet for people to seek help.”

Hope’s Board Vice President Keith Fagg said the organisation worked to ensure ‘no-one is alone in their grief.’

“Our Hope Bereavement Care Sports Breakfast Fundraiser is just one way of raising the funds required to continue our much-needed services,” Keith said.

This year’s Sports breakfast was hosted by Roxie Bennett and featured Geelong Football Club four-time premiership player Joel Selwood and AFLW midfielder Renee Garing as special guests.

Keith added the support received from Bisinella has been of tremendous encouragement to the organisation and its participants in Hope Bereavement Care.

Over the 2021-22 financial year, Hope – together with its partners – supported 541 people grieving the loss of a loved one.

This involved providing 1,471 counselling sessions, facilitating 55 bereavement support groups and joining with over 500 bereaved people to remember their loved ones at special events.

This all would not be possible without the help of local business partners like Bisinella Developments, Hope’s dedicated team of volunteers and the Geelong community.
