Bisinella extends community support for Christmas

Bisinella is helping disadvantaged families and children during one of the most trying times of the year with a generous donation to the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal.

A charitable donation of $5000 from Bisinella to this year’s Geelong Giving Tree Appeal will help hundreds of vulnerable families, youth and children who desperately need support this Christmas.

Run by Bethany Community Support in partnership with Barwon Child, Youth and Family (BCYF) and the Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre, for the third year running, the 2022 Geelong Giving Tree Appeal is aiming to raise upwards of $100,000 this year in 2022.

Last year the appeal raised $90,000 which turned into thousands of gift cards to get presents under the tree for children and parents who may not have received a gift in years, while being able to provide a special family meal for Christmas.

BCYF CEO Sandy Morrison said the $5000 donation from Bisinella is a significant contribution that will help families at one of the most vulnerable times of the year.

“What is wonderful about the Geelong community is that we are known to band together and show compassion and generosity to those who need it most and we are incredibly grateful to the people, businesses and organisations who are able to donate to this fundraising appeal,” he said.

The not-for-profit organisation offers more than 40 community support programs in greater Geelong and parts of regional Victoria, including foster care, childcare support, youth homelessness, youth drug and alcohol addiction, and mental health support.

Sandy says it has been a challenging few years, and with the cost of living on the rise, we know our most vulnerable will again feel the strain this festive season.

“By making even a small donation you can contribute to parents buying a present for a child with something on their Santa list or being able to create an extra special meal over the festive season to share with loved ones,” Sandy said.

“These seemingly small acts of kindness make for a brighter Christmas for all.”

The appeal runs from November 12 to December 6, finishing with a Double the Impact Giving Day whereby community donations made on Giving Tuesday (December 6) will have double the impact thanks to the support of matched givers, including Bisinella.

“Being able to work collaboratively to make Christmas a happier time for children, young people and families across our region supports BCYF’s Christmas wish,” Sandy said.

Bisinella’s director, Richard Bisinella, said they are proud to support the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal again in 2022.

“The work that Bethany and BCYF does in providing community support to families and children is very important and we hope that our contribution will bring some extra smiles to the community this Christmas,” Richard said.

Community groups, corporate partners and individuals are encouraged to donate and fundraise in any way they can to help the Geelong Giving Tree reach its $100,000 target for 2022.
