Three-year sponsorship of BioCATS promotes benefits of sport to next generation

The Geelong Cats are pleased to announce Bisinella Developments have signed a three-year sponsorship extension of the club’s school program, BioCATS.

BioCATS, run from the club’s Deakin Cats Community Centre, is an experiential learning program delivered to grade 5 and 6 school students from across Victoria, from Geelong to Warrnambool to Bendigo and the Grampians.

BioCATS has seen 9,000 students from 110 schools engaged in maths, science technology and health, and the way it shapes the game of football since its beginnings in 2013.

Bisinella Developments, one of the region’s largest land development companies, has been a proud sponsor of BioCATS for the past three years and Bisinella’s Development Manager Richard Bisinella said supporting local organisations and projects in our community such as BioCATS, which targets the younger generation, was very important to the family-run business.

“The program provides school students with a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the benefits of being active and participating in sport in a fun and interactive environment,” he said.

Geelong Cats General Manager of Community, Sarah Albon said Bisinella Developments’ support of BioCATS is essential to the success of the program.

“BioCATS is about educating youth on the science and maths of football with a healthy edge, a program the club is extremely proud of. Bisinella Development’s ongoing support has played a big part in getting it to where it is today.”

The program is held in partnership with BioLAB: Victorian Bioscience Education Centre, Bisinella Developments and SEDA College.

Students and teachers participate in dynamic scientific experiments, using problem solving, statistical analysis and observation skills to learn about the science and maths of football and career pathways in sport.
